What followed was a fully integrated journey from device concept and design through to injection molded tooling and proof-of-concept production at our manufacturing site in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanner-group.com\/sanner-group\/headquarters-and-sites\">Bensheim, Germany<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Designing for Infant Safety and Parental Confidence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Administering vaccines to infants can be stressful &#8211; not only for the child, but also for parents and healthcare professionals. The device itself plays a critical role in shaping that experience.<\/p>\n<p>Our development team focused on creating a novel spray nozzle that would:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduce operator steps during administration<\/li>\n<li>Shorten the time required to deliver the vaccine<\/li>\n<li>Minimize distress for infants and their parents<\/li>\n<li>Lower environmental impact through optimized material and process design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Every design decision was guided by usability, safety, and efficiency. By simplifying the handling process, we reduced the potential for use error while improving the overall vaccination experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Engineering a Novel Spray Nozzle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The core of the project was the development of an innovative nasal spray nozzle engineered specifically for infant use. The design required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Precise spray performance<\/li>\n<li>Tight dimensional tolerances<\/li>\n<li>Reliable dose delivery<\/li>\n<li>Compatibility with high-volume vaccine production<\/li>\n<li>Compliance with medical device regulations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because Sanner was able to serve as both development partner and Legal Manufacturer, regulatory and quality considerations were embedded into the process from day one.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>Figure 1: Examples of a spray nozzle in use<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>From Concept to Injection Mold Tooling<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A key strength of this project was our ability to move seamlessly from design into tooling and prototyping within our own manufacturing infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Proof of concept was achieved on the first pass &#8211; a significant milestone made possible by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Early design-for-manufacture collaboration<\/li>\n<li>Close alignment between engineering and tooling teams<\/li>\n<li>Expert management of injection mold tools by our Bensheim facility<\/li>\n<li>Deep experience in precision molded medical components<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By managing injection mold tooling in-house, we ensured strict quality control, rapid iteration where needed, and optimized tool performance for \u00a0the tight tolerances required to deliver the performance our client demanded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Platform for the Future<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beyond this specific vaccine, the spray nozzle has been developed as a platform solution.
