Doppelherz Effervescent Tablets

How Sanner realized a flexible, consumer-centric Packaging Solution for Queisser’s Doppelherz Effervescent Tablets

Project Description

Sanner transformed Queisser’s Doppelherz tablet packaging with IML technology to a brand-specific and flexible packaging solution.

The Challenge

The dietary supplement producer Queisser from Flensburg, Germany needed a new packaging solution for their Doppelherz vitamins and minerals effervescent tablets, which are sold in Europe, Russia and Asia.

In Europe, effervescent tablets packaged in tubes are widely regarded as one of the most effective and reliable dosage forms. Unlike other types of packaging, tubes are resistant to cracking and bending, providing superior protection for the tablets. This prevents the tablets from crumbling while shielding them from light and moisture, helping to maintain their quality and extend their shelf life.

Queisser requested that the packaging solution should not only protect the tablets and ensure a long shelf life but also appeal to consumers through its attractive design.

Before expanding their partnership to include effervescent tubes, Sanner had already been supplying Queisser with desiccant caps for more than 10 years.

When Queisser recognized the need for a more attractive tube design, they asked Sanner for support. Having been highly satisfied with Sanner’s desiccant closures and the level of service they had received over the years, Sanner was the obvious choice for manufacturing its effervescent tablet tubes.

We advised them to switch to in-mold-labeling technology to achieve higher quality printing results and, above all, improved readability for consumers. We recommended our IML tubes to them.

Another requirement specified by Queisser was a tube length that differed from the standard format. Instead of the conventional 144 mm, the Doppelherz tubes measure 165 mm in length. As Sanner’s existing tooling was not suitable for producing this format, we developed a new tool with IML capability specifically for manufacturing longer tubes. This way, we could fully support Queisser in the production of their Doppelherz effervescent tablet packaging solution.

Our Approach

To enhance customer brand loyalty, we recommended that Queisser adopt Sanner’s IML tubes, which combine a premium appearance with exceptional ease of use.

Compared with conventionally offset-printed tubes, IML tubes provide superior, photorealistic print quality and support a variety of surface finishes. They can be printed in up to eight colors and feature real metallic effects. Moreover, IML tubes offer excellent label readability, even with small font sizes. They also provide more space for product information, while the scratch-resistant decoration ensures long-lasting durability.

The packaging can also be enhanced with additional features. QR codes provide consumers with instant access to detailed product information, while peel-off labels serve as integrated information booklets.

All these different features made the Sanner IML tube the ideal packaging solution for Queisser’s effervescent tablets and enables Queisser to offer attractive packaging that delivers all essential information within a compact format.

Results

Sanner was able to offer Queisser a custom packaging solution for its Doppelherz effervescent tablets. The tubes do not only provide the requested length but also IML print and a new design for a better customer experience. Sanner delivered higher-quality printing results and, most importantly, improved readability for Queisser’s customers.

Thanks to the longer tubes (165 mm instead of the usual 144 mm), Queisser can pack more tablets into each tube, which is also more convenient for the end consumer.

We can see that the new packaging solution has been well received by consumers. . Queisser has also introduced many new varieties of the Doppelherz effervescent tablets and has expanded into many countries, which has significantly contributed to the increase in volume for tubes and closures.
